According to reports, Juventus will not risk Paulo Dybala and Leonardo Bonucci for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Villarreal.

It kicks off in Spain on Tuesday at 20.00 GMT.

Bonucci did not take part in last night’s Derby della Mole, which ended 1-1 against local rivals Torino, while Dybala limped off in the second half.

Sky Sport Italia and Sport Mediaset maintain coach Max Allegri does not intend to risk the pair getting more serious muscular injuries by rushing their comeback.

While Bonucci is out, it is possible Dybala will make the trip to Spain, albeit to initially sit on the bench.

There are other concerns too, as Daniele Rugani was meant to start against Torino, but pulled out with a muscular issue during the warm-up, so was replaced by Alex Sandro in a makeshift centre-back role.

Danilo was suspended last night in Serie A, but he should be the pick to partner Matthijs de Ligt in central defence for the Champions League.

Giorgio Chiellini and Federico Chiesa are also on the treatment table for the Bianconeri.

2 thought on “Juventus might not risk Dybala and Bonucci with Villarreal”
  1. Bonucci and Chiellini have age to account for their recurring injury woes, not sure what Dybala’s reasons are?

  2. Last three seasons he missed ajax, lyon and porto duels.. its time to say goodbye if he does not deliver this month
