Juventus’ 2-0 win over Hellas Verona last night was almost perfect, except for the injuries suffered by Denis Zakaria and Giorgio Chiellini.

The former scored his a goal on his Bianconeri debut but collapsed to the ground a few minutes later, forcing coach Massimiliano Allegri to substitute him off. The latter was brought off in the 75th minute for Daniele Rugani, having suffered a slight calf strain.

As reported by Romeo Agresti today, Zakaria suffered a blow to his lower back, but it’s not considered to be serious and he’s expected to be fit for Thursday’s match against Sassuolo. Chiellini will undergo a round of tests at J-Medical tomorrow to further evaluate his calf issue.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Chiellini will surely sit out of the next two games and is in danger of missing out on the Turin derby and the opening Champions League Round of 16 clash against Villareal in Spain.

The Bianconeri will face Sassuolo in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Thursday evening at 20.00 UK time. Their next league game, which comes three days later, is an important clash against Atalanta, a game which could be crucial in the fight for a top four spot this season.
