Inter coach Simone Inzaghi praises Roma boss José Mourinho ahead of tomorrow’s Coppa Italia clash and says the Nerazzurri must move on after their defeat in the derby against Milan.

The Nerazzurri remain the Serie A leaders with a game in hand but saw Milan and Napoli move one point behind them over the weekend.

The defending Serie A champions return to the pitch tomorrow, facing Mourinho’s Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, played on a one-leg basis. It will be Mourinho’s first game as an Inter opponent in Milan.

“We meet a strong team with many quality players and a great coach like José,” Inzaghi told Sportmediaset.

“The Coppa Italia is a very important target for us. It must be in the DNA of Inter.

“Now we’re in the quarter-finals. We have this big game tomorrow. We know that we have the chance to get to the semifinal quickly,” the coach continued.

“We always feel at home with our fans. Tomorrow is a midweek match, but we know they will be there trying to drag us as they have done from the beginning of the year. We hope to reward them the qualification.”

The Nerazzurri must react after a 2-1 loss against Milan. It was their second Serie A defeat this season, but it came in a crucial game as it allowed the Rossoneri to move closer to the top of the table.

“I am lucky enough to have a strong and competitive team that since the beginning of the year. Everybody has shown availability,” Inzaghi added.

“We suffered a bad defeat but we must be good and rational, be aware of the positives and keep them in mind. We have to continue what we have done in these first six months.”
