Now, Calciomercato say the Old Lady are monitoring the young Argentine forward as a potential replacement for Mario Mandzukic, who is expected to leave at the end of the season.

According to the Italian outlet, Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici made an enquiry as to the availability of the player in July, but was unable to convince the Vicente Calderon side to do a deal.

However, this will not put the Serie A champions off from trying again next summer as they continue to persue a player they rate very highly.
