Former Atalanta boss Stafano Colantuono is in line to take over at struggling Crotone, according to reports.

The newly promoted club are bottom of Serie A after six matches and risk being cut adrift early on in their fight to stay up, having taken just one point.

On Thursday, Pitagorici President Raffaele Vrenna insisted that current Coach Davide Nicola’s position was not under threat, adding that he would remain until at least the end of the season.

However, speculation continues to mount, with Sport Mediaset claiming Nicola could be sacked if the team lose heavily at Cagliari on Sunday.

Should this happen, the experienced Colantuono is said to be top of the list of possible replacements.
