Stevan Jovetic says Roma and Juventus are the candidates for the Scudetto, but Inter have the strength for third place.

The 25-year-old released an extensive interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport. After mentioning that his physical condition was at “70-80 per cent”, Jovetic was asked whether those were also Inter's odds of winning the Scudetto.

“Time out!” he said. “That word [Scudetto] must not be said out loud.

“The candidates are Juventus and Roma, and we come after them alongside Napoli, Fiorentina, Milan and Lazio.

“But we can discuss our odds of reaching the third place. We have the strength to make it that far.

“The time I asked for reinforcements for Inter? It's something that came up to me after reading the papers,” he joked.

“My friend [Roma's Adem] Ljajic? I read things about him, but I haven't called him yet.

“[Inter target Ivan] Perisic? He's strong, extremely strong. But then reinforcing also means taking a strong team and making it extremely strong.

“The secret for victory? A great Coach, which we already have, and drive, which we also have, and in spades.

“Both the veterans and the new signings have that motivation, and the younger players are very eager.”

Jovetic was then asked about former Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal's criticism that footballers now costed too much.

“He's right, it's all an exaggeration, prices leap up in a way that is completely crazy.

“It used to be that you were assigned a ridiculous price-tag after winning Scudetti and World Cups.

“Not that the current players don't deserve a high evaluation, but do you remember [Zinedine] Zidane? He costed a lot, but he was Zidane, and he had trophies to his name.

“As for myself, I may be the idol for some children in the way that Sheva, Saviceviv and Mjiatovic were for me.

“But at heart I'm a kid who would have gone for tennis if football hadn't worked out.

“I've got a girlfriend, I watch the films of Stallone and Di Caprio and I watch American TV series and play videogames.

“My first call after that goal against Atalanta was to my mum and dad.

“I still wear the pendant around my neck that was given to me by my godfather.

“I kiss it every time I walk onto the pitch, as I've always done.”
