Mike Maignan was blamed by Italian sports papers for Frosinone’s second goal against Milan, but his compatriot Olivier Giroud was the Man of the Match at the Stadio Stirpe with one goal and one assist.

The Rossoneri secured a hard-fought 3-2 win away at Frosinone on Saturday and are now five points below city rivals Inter who, however, have two games in hand, including tonight’s meeting with Juventus at the Stadio Meazza.

Milan went 2-1 down at minute 65 when Luca Mazzitelli beat Maignan at the near post so the France international was blamed by Italian sports papers on Sunday. La Gazzetta dello Sport also noted that the ex-Lille keeper ran a risk in the first half with a tricky pass to his compatriot Yacine Adli.

Maignan was rated 5/10 by all three Italian sports papers.

On the other hand, Giroud massively contributed to Milan’s win with one goal and one assist. The experienced French striker opened the account at minute 17 and delivered the decisive pass for Matteo Gabbia’s equaliser at minute 72.

He was rated 7.5 by Gazzetta and Corriere dello Sport while Luka Jovic received the same rating as the Frenchman, 7/10 on Tuttosport newspaper.

Jovic has become a super sub having netted five times in the last seven appearances despite only playing 205 minutes of football.
