Inter and Simone Inzaghi are at a crossroads as the Derby d’Italia approaches and the game could have serious consequences for both.

The Nerazzurri have had a disastrous start to 2022, only picking up three wins since the turn of the year. Their drop in quality has allowed both Milan and Napoli to overtake them in the Serie A table and now rivals Juventus only sit one point behind, although the Milanese club do have a game in hand against Bologna still.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Derby d’Italia is a crucial game for both Inter and Inzaghi, as a win keeps them in the title race but a loss means they’re likely to miss out on their second consecutive Scudetto.

A loss to Juventus would also bear personally troubling for Inzaghi, as the defeat may lead to some reflections on his future as Inter coach, with some still unconvinced about his winning mentality.

  1. Serie A’s only solution to all of its problems: Sack the manager! Followed closely by signing ageing epl rejects on huge contracts.

Yeah, those two strokes of genius work every time.

  2. the sickness of serie a and all italian football – only results count! inzaghi gave inter european dimension and a quality and attacking style of play. eventually it will give results.

why fire very good coach who was better even from KLOP and ACNCELOTTI IN CL THIS YEAR and not count on him, and give him time – at least one more year. inter paying for the energy the put against liverpool. even milan play bad after the wins against atletico madrid.

i think inter progress this year. scudeto or not – inter became a europeen force who can play and beat anyone with good football. scudeto is small prize for the team who can beat constantly and with bad football all the small teams in serie a – that is what juve do for years. inter this year maybe don’t have the energy to do this kind of thing but could have glory days in cl in the next few years.

and this come from AC MILAN FAN

  3. It is clear for everyone to see that Inter was dominant in the first half of the season but the playing style with high intensity and a lot of running is not sustainable in the long run if the squad does not have enough quality in depth. Either the physically has to be managed better during the season or the quality of depth must be improved

  4. For goodness if highly trained athletescan’t play for 180 minutes over a week at a high intensity there’s something wrong either with the training or players mentality
I think it’s their mentality, Inzaghi needs to toughen up with the players and push them to their limits just like Conte is doing at Spurs

  5. You’re delusional Milanista. Inter was beaten by a Liverpool team that played in second gear in both games and was knocked out in the round of 16 after not managing to get out of the UCL group stages for 10 years. Hardly a European force. You c$ap on about Juve but in those ten years Juve knocked out Barcelona and Real Madrid to make two finals. Whether you want to admit it or not Juve has been the best performing team in the UCL in the last 10 years.

  6. 7/9 CL final defeats is nothing to shout home about. The last two finals were a train wreck and they got well and truly beaten by the two mentioned Spanish teams as they turn it up when needed. Ajax, Lyon, Porto and Villarreal is the real level of Juventus. Inter have a long way to go but at least they have some fighting spirit and it was not comfortable for the reds. The bigger issue is how Italy addresses the major problems with their game from youth, marketing, infrastructure and the national team. Fact is none of the Italian teams have what it takes to compete in Europe and not qualifying for the WC only hid the success at the Euro’s. Sadly they will never learn and the Milan/Inter stadium will be complete by 2097 lol.
