According to Sport Mediaset, CEO Ivan Gazidis and Paolo Maldini met to discuss who will replace Gennaro Gattuso as the new Coach of the Rossoneri and the Lazio tactician was the name proposed by the current sporting strategy and development director.

However, any potential deal will depend on Biancocelesti President Claudio Lotito, who is notoriously difficult to negotiate with and has already stated he wants Inzaghi to remain.

Inzaghi has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus in recent days, but was reportedly the Old Lady’s second choice, paving the way for the Rossoneri to make an offer of €2.5m a season for a three-year contract to the 43-year-old.

It would be an intriguing move, as Simone’s older brother Pippo was the Milan Coach in the 2014-15 season.

Meanwhile, Sampdoria Coach Giampaolo remains an alternative option to take over at San Siro in the summer, but has also been linked with Roma.
