“Immobile is not in the squad, as we prefer for him to rest and fully recover ahead of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Wednesday,” noted the Coach in his Press conference.

Curiously, that Cup tie is also against Milan, so those who don’t start tomorrow could well take on the Rossoneri a few days later.

“We know what we’re getting into, as it’ll be a game to be faced with the right attitude against a Milan side that is clearly on the upswing and understanding what the new Coach wants,” noted Inzaghi in his Press conference.

“In terms of individual talents, Milan are second only to Juventus in Serie A this season.”

Lazio’s 4-1 victory over Milan in September is one of the main reasons why Vincenzo Montella was sacked to make way for Gennaro Gattuso.

“Immobile is improving, but we didn’t want to risk it with so many other games coming up, so he’s rested and we hope he’ll be available on Wednesday. I still have many doubts over who to use in the starting XI, as we used up a lot of energy against Chievo and Udinese. We’ve got so many talented players, it’s up to me to rotate them wisely.”

Lazio are now three points clear of Inter in third place and cannot disguise their Champions League ambitions, which had belonged to Milan after the huge summer investments.

“We’ve had a remarkable run of results lately and must try to maintain that pace. Nobody would’ve bet before the season began that we’d be in the fight with Roma and Inter for third place, but now we’re up there, we want to keep riding the wave of enthusiasm.

“We always want to play the ball and go for the win, even if that means running a few risks.”

Milan bought Lucas Biglia from Lazio over the summer, but he has been more than ably replaced by Lucas Leiva.

“They are two great players. Lucas had a remarkably quick settling in process for someone who spent the last 10 years in England with Liverpool, where things are very different. I think he deserves a recall to the Brazil squad.

“As for Biglia, he’s getting back to the player we all knew. He’ll be very motivated and of course we’ll keep a close eye on him.”
