Simone Inzaghi praises Inter’s defensive balance after a second consecutive victory with clean sheet and ‘resource’ Joaquin Correa.

The Nerazzurri secured a 2-0 victory over Udinese at San Siro, as squad rotation worked wonders with Tucu Correa bagging a brace.

Serie A | Inter 2-0 Udinese: Correa brace decisive

It took an hour to break the opposition down, but ultimately it proved a fairly comfortable win and puts the pressure on joint leaders Napoli and Milan.

“This was not a simple game, as we know Udinese are a physical side who closed down the spaces,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“The lads didn’t have much time to prepare, but we worked really hard and must continue after two consecutive victories with clean sheets.

“We have excellent defenders, but a clean sheet depends on balance throughout the team and not just the defenders.”

Correa had been unimpressive before the two goals in eight minutes, so was Inzaghi about to substitute the former Lazio striker?

“Absolutely not, he did what I asked in the first half, tried to spread the defence and attack the space. I know him well, he’s a great resource for us and I am fortunate to have all four strikers available at the moment, so I must be wise in choosing them game by game.”

Inter have a huge run of fixtures coming up, with Sheriff in the Champions League followed by Milan and Napoli in Serie A.

“We have a very important game coming up on Wednesday for our Champions League campaign and must recover physical and mental energy as quickly as possible.

“The Sheriff game is probably more important than the two Serie A ones. We could’ve had more points in Serie A so far, but we’ve done well, Napoli and Milan set recent records with their results, so that can only be extra motivation for us.”

Lautaro Martinez signed a new contract committing his future to Inter this week.

“I am fortunate to have a strong club behind me who helps in every way. Naturally, Lautaro’s contract is very important, we are awaiting Barella and Brozovic deals next. The directors are with me every day and we knew there would be a few problems at the start of the season, but we are all working in the same direction.”

  1. See how your defence does away to Sheriff first before saying to much Inter have a habit of messing things up in the CL ,
That game will show if theirs been any improvement
