Simone Inzaghi explains why he made his choices against Lecce, the approach Inter need to take and the meeting after their recent defeat.

It kicks off at San Siro at 17.00 GMT.

There have already been some surprise results this round, as leaders Napoli lost at home to Lazio and Milan fell away to Fiorentina.

That means the Nerazzurri need a victory today in order to recapture second place from Maurizio Sarri’s side.

The upsets already started last week with Inter’s defeat to Bologna and Roma losing to Cremonese.

“We know that Lecce are in good shape and we need to take the initiative from the start, then see what happens,” Inzaghi told DAZN.

It was reported that Henrikh Mkhitaryan would be rested to bring in Marcelo Brozovic, but the Armenian remains in the starting XI, while Edin Dzeko is preferred to Romelu Lukaku.

“Playing so often at the moment, we need to make choices. I have chosen a starting XI today and as always those who come off the bench will also make an impact.”

There was a crisis summit at the Inter training ground this week after the defeat to Bologna, though Inzaghi insists it was nothing unusual.

“We have meetings every three days, sometimes they are positive, then there are analyses when we lose, but the discussions are always the same. It is only right to exchange our thoughts and ideas after every game with the club and the players.”
