The latest reports in Italy suggest Suning are ready to sell Inter for €1.2b, as much as RedBird Capital Partners paid to acquire Milan in August.

Growing reports in Italy and England claim the Zhang family is ready to listen to offers for the club. However, sources close to the club insist that the Chinese entrepreneurs are only looking for a minority shareholder.

Funds from the US and Saudi Arabia are said to have already expressed interest, but things are still moving slowly at this stage.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport insists Suning are open to both solutions and would be open to selling a majority stake in the club if a suitable offer arrives.

According to the report, the Zhang family values Inter at €1.2b the same fee paid by RedBird in August to acquire their city rivals Milan.

Andrea Sartori, the founder and CEO of Football Benchmark, believes the assessment is ‘realistic’ considering the players’ value, circa €600m and the brand’s worth, circa €400-500m.

“There are two more aspects to consider,” continued Sartori.

“The stadium, but also the Super League. Nobody talks about it, but over the next few months, the European Court Of Justice will issue its verdict and if it was favourable to Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid, European clubs would earn more power to establish a new competitions system, seeing their values rise.”

7 thought on “Inter worth as much as Milan for Suning”
  1. Kudos to them if they manage to sell for the same price, considering their extremely inferior European pedigree compared to Milan.

  2. @milanfan. It is what the club is priced at now and not according to the past. In the 90s and early 2000s Milan would have been worth much more primarily because of its squad. Now Inter have more valuable players. Unfortunately until Serie A teams start to play regularly in European finals their international ‘brand’ is not going to be boosted to previous levels. Young football fans around the world don’t necessarily buy into the Milan brand – their last international success being nearly two decades ago.
And then there is the decrepit stadium – which is the same for both Milan clubs.

  3. @Milan fan

I guess you also believe Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Hamburg are worth more money as clubs than Arsenal or Man City based on the former 3 winning European Cups while Arsenal and City never won Champions Cup/League. Milan have not been relevant in Europe since 2007. That is the reality.

  4. Oh and Chelsea were sold for a lot more than Milzn were sold for. Nothing to do with CL trophies count, otherwise Milan would be sold for more than Chelsea which wasn’t the case. Chelsea play in a better league, won a lot more trophies than Milan in the last 10 yeaes and won 2 CLs since Milan last won their last one.
