Multiple reports in Italy claim Rafael Leao’s father did not meet Milan directors today, although the Rossoneri could have discussed the striker’s contract extension with his lawyer.

Leao’s family is in Italy and yesterday, they attended the Gran Gala Del Calcio award, where Leao was named best player of 2021-22 by fellow footballers.

Leao’s father was expected to meet Milan directors today to discuss a contract extension with the club. Jorge Mendes is formally in charge of negotiations, but the player’s father is obviously involved in talks with the Serie A giants along with a lawyer who is among his closest friends.

However, according to Tuttomercatoweb, the meeting between the two parties has been cancelled and won’t take place today.

It is still unclear why the summit was cancelled and whether it will take place on another date.

Sky Sport Italia, who spent the whole day in front of Milan’s HQ, confirm Leao’s father didn’t show up, but a taxi has just left Casa Milan and the family lawyer was probably inside.

Negotiations between the two parties will be lengthy, but the Serie A giants hope they can persuade their star to sign a new deal before the World Cup starts next month.

  1. Having blood involved in a negotiation rarely pans positive results. I don’t see this ending up well.

  2. I see it ending with Milan getting about 120 million to be honest. The guy seems to want to take advantage of being flavour of the month and go make some big money.

  3. My gut is saying 80 % he leaves, 20 % he stays.

If they don’t sort anything out asap it will be pushed to after the WC. Timing will be tight as he wouldn’t be far from leaving on a free transfer. Can someone say Kessie saga all over again?

  4. @Acemilan

I am willing to bet you A LOT of money that we at least is not losing him on free. Care to make it interesting let me know.

  5. He is signed thru 2024, if he doesn’t sign by summer 2023, he will be transferred in the summer for big $$$, no FREE this time!
