Inter failed to find the net after 39 consecutive Serie A matches on target, just failing to close on the Juventus all-time record.

The Nerazzurri had scored in each of their previous 39 rounds until this evening’s 0-0 draw away to Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.

It means Inter fail to become only the third team to be on target in 40 consecutive encounters in the Italian top flight.

Juventus remain the only club to have achieved that, reaching 43 in March 2014 and 44 in December 2017.

Serie A | Atalanta 0-0 Inter: Handanovic denies depleted Dea

They hadn’t fired blanks in Serie A since January 2021 against Udinese, so a full calendar year.

Inter had been, along with Bayern Munich, the only side to score in every one of their games in Europe’s top five leagues so far this season.

The 0-0 result also ends the Inter run of eight consecutive Serie A victories.

What it does allow the Biscione to achieve is a new club record of five consecutive away clean sheets in Serie A, something they had not achieved in the three points for a win era.
