Samir Handanovic admits this is ‘a good point, considering how the game went’ against Atalanta and describes his best saves of the match.

The game ended goalless, but both sides had plenty of scoring opportunities in Bergamo, Handanovic and Juan Musso tested.

“It’s a good draw, considering how the game went. We could’ve won and we could’ve lost,” the goalkeeper told DAZN.

“It’s a fair result, as it is never easy against Atalanta. We had used up a lot of energy in the Supercoppa on Wednesday with extra time, so we take this point and look to the next test.”

Serie A | Atalanta 0-0 Inter: Handanovic denies depleted Dea

Atalanta were pinning Inter back into their own half for long periods, so Handanovic had the ball at his feet for a full four minutes over the 90, effectively acting as their playmaker.

“That’s because there wasn’t as much movement as usual from my teammates as we were tired. The goalkeeper must know how to control the ball, when to push, when to hold, to set the tempo. It’s part of the game now.”

There were two particularly tough saves, one-on-one to deny Matteo Pessina and Luis Muriel.

“I’ve known Muriel since the Udinese days, so it’s not like I had to study him that carefully. I watched the ball, that’s our training. The first job of the goalkeeper is to make a save and that’s what I did.”

Milan could temporarily go top of the Serie A table tomorrow with a win over Spezia, but Inter still have a game in hand.

“There are many games to go, we have a game in hand too, so there’s a long way to go. There’s no pressure, nothing has been decided yet. We want to win and when we can’t win, we try to draw.”

  1. Muriel is basically their best place in a couple of matches for them but he only got one clear chance at a tight angle. But Inter were more wasteful than the usual.
