Hakan Calhanoglu has seven goals and eight assists across all competitions this season and has made the difference mostly in big games.

The Turkey international caused outrage in Milano last summer when he joined Inter on a free transfer from their city rivals Milan. He converted a decisive spot-kick in the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 win over Juventus yesterday, scoring his seventh goal this season.

Calhanoglu has found the net mostly against Inter’s direct opponents this term. The turnaround of his campaign was in the derby of the Girone d’Andata where he scored a goal from the spot, producing a controversial celebration under the Rossoneri’s Curva.

The 28-year-old netter four more in the following seven games, adding five assists. His performances had dropped a little in 2022 and Calhanoglu scored his first goal of the year against Juventus yesterday. The ex-Milan star has now scored against the Bianconeri, Roma, Napoli and Milan, who are Inter’s main rivals.

Simone Inzaghi’s boys will battle it out with Milan and Napoli for the Scudetto. They are currently three points behind the pair in the Serie A table. Inter will have a game in hand after tonight’s Milan-Bologna at the Stadio Meazza.

  1. Looks to me as if the only thing he steps up to is penalties, and he even failed the first one against Juventus with a terrible effort.
