The Serbian international centre-back is available to talk to interested parties, as he enters the final few months of his current contract with Manchester United.

The Gazzetta dello Sport echo reports yesterday suggesting that Inter head the queue of clubs in talks with the 32-year-old.

The Nerazzurri, who are believed to still face competition from Juventus and Milan, among others, are said to have had owner Erick Thohir approve breaking the club’s wage cap of €2.5m to try and tempt Vidic, who at United is said to be currently earning upwards of €4.8m a year.

Thohir’s interest in the player is also apparently partly based on his appeal as a United player in the East, and that, if he arrives, he will be used to help promote Inter to that market.

Vidic, meanwhile, is reported in England as ‘furious’ with Manchester United over their apparent failure to offer him a new deal. Outlets in the country suggest the Red Devils are prepared to let him go in the summer.
