According to TyC Sports in Argentina, Premier League side Southampton have finalised a deal to sign Inter and Milan target Carlos Alcaraz from Racing for €15m.

The 20-year-old midfielder had been linked with a move to the Stadio Meazza with both Inter and Milan interested in securing his signature.

The player’s agent confirmed in November that he had been in talks with the Rossoneri last summer before they signed Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge for €32m.

He also confirmed the interest from Inter, saying that the Nerazzurri were on good terms with Racing.

However, it appears unlikely that Alcaraz will play in Italy as, according to TyC Sports in Argentina, Racing have reached an agreement with Southampton. The Premier League side will pay €15m to sign the promising midfielder who is ready to fly to England where he will undergo his medical.

Alcaraz has played 38 games in Argentina’s Superliga scoring four goals.

UPDATE: Racing have confirmed a deal with Southampton for €13.5m plus 15% on any future sale.

  1. Milanese clubs decided it was not worth paying all the extra fees to third parties and agents at this stage for this player. They can get him at much lower price later on when Southampton go down from Premier League.

  2. Wow! How depressing when teams with such history and pedigree can’t match the likes of Southampton when competing for players to sign (no offence to Southampton)!

A sad state of affairs Serie A is in!
