The Rossoneri have been dogged by injuries this term, with Marco van Ginkel, Adil Rami, Philippe Mexes and Riccardo Montolivo all sidelined at various times.

However, in his Press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match with Sassuolo, the Coach gave an update on the condition of several players, and believes there is cause for optimism.

“[Iganzio] Abate and [Mattia] De Sciglio are available,” Inzaghi revealed.

“De Sciglio is better than he was at the start. Rami is available and Mexes will return at Torino.

“Van Ginkel is almost ready, and [Daniele] Bonera has started running today so it may be that he’s available for Torino or Sassuolo [in the Coppa Italia].

“Van Ginkel is still a few days away. I’ll have to assess his condition.

“I’ve told him that we have a lot of players in midfield, I can’t guarantee a place to anyone, but I hold the lad in high regard.”

The former striker then took the time to discuss Milan’s plans in the transfer market, and played down reports linking the club with Roma’s Mattia Destro.

“We have a squad which has been well put-together, with a great attitude.

“Like the President [Silvio Berlusconi] says, I wouldn’t change any of my players for anyone.

“I hope not to lose [Nigel] De Jong, I think we’ll find an agreement [over a new contract].

“Destro? We’re playing Sassuolo tomorrow, we have two great strikers at Milan in [Jeremy] Menez and [Giampaolo] Pazzini, if they stay then we’re happy.”

The Rossoneri will actually face Sassuolo twice in the coming weeks, with a Coppa Italia clash at San Siro to come on January 16, and Inzaghi believes the cup is important for his side.

“This year it [the Coppa] has to be our Champions League since we’re not in that,” Inzaghi declared.

“It would be nice for these players and the fans to play in a final. However, there’s a long way to go and a lot of good teams.

“We must do everything possible to get to the top. We have to get back to being the Milan that we all know.”
