The Nerazzurri are still unbeaten this season, and face Juventus tonight aiming to remain top of the table.

Icardi has scored 16 goals in 15 games so far this season, but his goals aren’t just numerous, they’re crucial too.

The Beneamata captain has won his club 19 of their 39 points so far, either by opening the scoring in a 0-0 game or by scoring an equaliser or winner.

After a brace against Fiorentina in Week 1, Icardi equalised away at Roma before scoring again to make the score 2-1 to Inter in a game which eventually ended in a 3-1 win.

The striker broke the deadlock against Spal, before scoring a penalty equaliser at Bologna and grabbing a hat-trick in the 3-2 win over Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.

Last weekend saw Icardi score both goals in a 2-0 win over Atalanta, making him the most decisive player in Serie A this season.

Indeed the only match in which the 24-year-old has scored but didn’t break the deadlock, get an equaliser or hit the winner was the 3-2 win over Sampdoria.

In that match Milan Skriniar put Inter 1-0 up before Icardi made it 2-0 and then 3-0, in what was eventually a 3-2 win.

Statistically that isn’t factored in to his decisive contributions, but arguably the striker also won that match with his brace.

Against Cagliari Icardi opened the scoring, as well as scoring the third in a 3-1 win.

Last week saw the Nerazzurri win 5-0 at home to Chievo, but the captain scored the second after Ivan Perisic had opened the scoring, so in purely statistical terms his goal wasn’t decisive.

Icardi is also the last Inter player to score against Juve in Turin, with his 64th minute goal on January 6, 2015.

Since then the Beneamata have gone 296 minutes without finding the back of the net at Juventus Stadium.
