Zlatan Ibrahimovic is continuing to work hard in training and could return to Milan’s starting lineup for the first time in over 13 months in their upcoming clash with Salernitana.

The 41-year-old Swedish striker has played 40 minutes of action this season after recovering from a serious knee operation, making cameo appearances in the win over Atalanta and the loss to Fiorentina.

Ibrahimovic made it clear throughout his recovery that his passion for football did not waiver and that he was not ready to retire yet, and his continued hard work at Milanello is a sign of this.

As highlighted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Stefano Pioli is considering rotating his Milan squad a little in their upcoming game against Salernitana and he’s keen to give Olivier Giroud a rest, forcing him to deploy another striker.

Whilst Divock Origi could start, recent signs at Milanello suggest that Ibrahimovic could return to Milan’s starting lineup for the first time since January 23, 2022, when he started in the Rossoneri’s 0-0 draw with Juventus.

In yesterday’s training session, Ibrahimovic played the entire match with the Milan Under-18 squad, two 25-minute halves, and showed positive signs. The next sessions at Milanello will be where Pioli makes his decision.
