Juventus’ acquisition of Dusan Vlahovic was the signing of the January transfer window, and Tottenham tried to intervene to beat to the Bianconeri to the punch.

The 22-year-old Serbian striker, who has scored 17 goals in 21 Serie A appearances this season, was the talk of the market, with a number of top clubs heavily linked to him, including the Bianconeri and North London sides Spurs and Arsenal. Juventus eventually secured Vlahovic’s signature, paying Fiorentina €80m in total for the player.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, the demands of Vlahovic’s entourage risked causing the deal with Juventus to collapse; at a certain point, talks staled between the parties and at that moment, a Fabio Paratici-led Tottenham attempted to intervene, wanting to steal the Serbian striker from under the Bianconeri’s nose.

In the end, Vlahovic’s desire to wear black and white made the difference. Juventus eventually found an agreement with his agents, guaranteeing them a sum of just over €8m, and this pushed the deal over the line, leaving Tottenham empty handed.
