Egypt’s sports minister advised Juventus target Mohamed Salah to continue his journey away from Liverpool, but the striker’s direction is ‘to renew his contract.’

Salah has been linked with a move to Juventus, who are looking for a replacement for Paulo Dybala. Juventus have decided against extending La Joya’s contract, so the striker will leave the Allianz Stadium on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Italian media, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, admit that the purchase of Salah would be costly for the Old Lady, but the Serie A giants have recently spoken to the striker’s agent to sound out his availability.

Juventus open preliminary talks with Salah’s agent

Salah’s contract with Liverpool expires in June 2023, but Liverpool are also in talks with the striker’s entourage to persuade him to extend his stay at the club.

“I have advised him to continue his journey at a club other than Liverpool, but his direction now is to renew his contract,” Egypt’s sports minister Ashraf Sobhi told the BBC.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the club and Salah’s agent are in talks but has refused to provide further updates regarding negotiations. “The decisive parties are talking to each other and that’s all I need,” he said at a press conference on Monday.

Salah has already played in Serie A, wearing the shirts of Fiorentina and Roma. The 29-year-old scored 35 goals in 81 games during his two-year and a half spell in Italy.

  1. Why would Salah go back to serie a now? He could easily get a transfer to any of Europes top sides and rube or any other Italian team aren’t that.

Clearly a silly made up rumor.

Perhaps in 4 years Salah could retire in serie a like so many others who got past their best.

  2. He aint gettin’ no 40 goal seasons in Italy…he’d be best to stay in the EPL where every team plays 11 strikers.

  3. Anyone else imagining Salah rolling his eyes in response to the minister?

Weird situation to stick his nose in.

  4. @Azzkikr Yes, come to retire in Italy where most of the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS are based. A very healthy retirement home…

  5. @Gio

There’s far more goals in Serie A than in England lol

Anyone can score goals in Italy nowadays. Most leagues are easy to score in, really.

  6. Please no more epl players the wrong side of 30 coming to Serie A on enormous wages for one last big pay day.

Do these Italian clubs learn nothing?

  7. Dream which will never be fulfilled , Salah to Juve my foot , Better to play in farmers league than this handicap Juve , who are struggling economically as a whole
