Gonzalo Higuain has reiterated his satisfaction with life at Napoli and reflected on the club’s chase of Juventus and Roma this season.

The Argentine moved out to the San Paolo this summer to end six-and-a-half years at Real Madrid and, even with the Partenopei third in Serie A, he holds no regrets on his decision.

“I chose Napoli because I wanted to try a new experience in another country,” began Higuain to BeinSports this week.

“I wanted to be part of another project in a new League. Napoli fans have supported me with all their love and I am happy with the choice I have made.

“It is all new here, from the technical staff to the players. We need time in order to win, but we are having a very good season.

“Compared to Spanish football, in Italy it is harder for a striker because there are fewer spaces.

“Benitez is a great Coach, with him there was an immediate feeling. He was one of the reasons why I chose Napoli.”

The 26-year-old was asked of the two sides currently leading Napoli in the League, starting with first place Juventus, who are now 15 points ahead of them.

“They are strong, they are the club that has won in Italy in the last two years and so is favourite, so we have to improve in order to reach them as soon as possible.

“Roma? We will try to overtake them and in this sense it is important to play the return League match at home, it will be three important points in our run towards the Giallorossi.”
