Alessandro Lucarelli reflected on the bittersweet draw Parma recorded against Fiorentina, musing that a win would have seen them advance in the table.

The Ducali were 2-1 in Monday evening’s early fixture and a man up on La Viola, but saw Mati Fernandez steal a point for the away side with a curled free-kick late on.

“We knew they were a tough opponent, they put us under difficulty at the beginning, then we took hold of things,” considered Lucarelli after the match.

“We have been doing well to reach 13 games unbeaten, we were good here. Of course we believed, so their goal has sent us home unhappy.

“We were running the game nicely with the man advantage, without risking much, we also had the chance from Amauri to make it 3-1 – we are really sorry, we would have made quite a jump in the standings.

“There is, though, the satisfaction of having put in a good performance against a great team, which confirms the effectiveness of our work.”
