Lazio midfielder Lucas Leiva has undergone surgery to stabilise a dislocated thumb he suffered during the Supercoppa Italiana.
A statement from the club confirmed he went under the knife at the Paideia clinic today.
Leiva dislocated the thumb on his right hand following a clash in the 3-1 victory over Juventus on December 22.
His condition will be monitored on a daily basis, but he remains a major doubt to feature in the first Serie A game of 2020.
Lazio will visit Brescia on January 5 at 11.30 GMT.
