The 38-year-old flew in this morning with a private jet from Stockholm, underwent hours of medicals, signed the contract and then insisted on another training session in the gym, despite the fact his new teammates had already gone home.

He sat down with Milan TV and explained why he chose shirt Number 21 on his second spell with the Rossoneri, returning nine years after his move to PSG.

“I showed the available numbers to my children and they preferred 21, so I went with that,” said Ibra.

“I haven’t really changed since I was a child. I still have that same hunger, determination and confidence. Have I ever been afraid? No,” he smiled with a shrug.

“My objective is to help the club and the team to improve the situation. On an individual level, to do as well as possible.

“Everyone is very happy and I received a lot of messages of congratulations. Now finally the move is official.”

As this is a comeback, Zlatan was asked what came to mind when he thought of Milan.

“Only good memories, positive ones. It’s a great club, great team and great being at San Siro.”

Zvonimir Boban greeted him at the airport, while Paolo Maldini was present for the signing of the contract. Did their presence sway Ibrahimovic for this return?

“In the last two-three weeks, I’ve talked more with them than I have my own wife! It all went well, because I am here now.”
