The goalkeeper spent most of his career at Marassi, coming up through the youth academy, until his €14.2m move to Juventus in the summer of 2018.

After playing only nine games for the Bianconeri and suffering from a serious injury, he today completed a six-month loan deal with his old club.

“The challenge, sense of belonging, love for the city, the jersey in which I made my Serie A debut, the history you can breathe in at the Pegli training ground, the coaches and people who saw me grow up, the energy that the fans provide from behind your shoulders,” wrote Perin on Instagram.

“All of this is what pushed me to accept this challenge. I am returning to you Genoa for gratitude, because we must all help each other, because I’ve never been scared by a challenge and I feel the need to give something back to you and your fans.

“Mimmo, Stefano, Goran, Davide – I am ready to give my contribution!”

Perin is reunited with several former teammates in the current Genoa squad, such as Mimmo Criscito, Stefano Sturaro, Goran Pandev and Davide Biraschi.

They’ll need to club together, because Genoa are currently bottom of the Serie A table and just appointed Davide Nicola as their third coach of the season, having fired Aurelio Andreazzoli and Thiago Motta.
