Reports are spreading in England that Juventus have a verbal agreement with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola for next season, but Italian media are more sceptical.

The story first emerged in Radio CRC, where Il Giornale reporter Luigi Gelpa claimed to receive the tip from “the same source who told me Cristiano Ronaldo was going to Juventus” last year.

Max Allegri is considering his future in Turin and many expect him to leave at the end of the season, regardless of his Champions League results or imminent eighth consecutive Scudetto.

Guardiola’s Manchester City are top of the Premier League, having dominated the title race last term.

Spaniard Guardiola speaks fluent Italian, having played in Serie A for Brescia and Roma.

However, the media in England seem to have run with this story considerably more than in Italy, where they point towards Zinedine Zidane or the return of Antonio Conte.
