Sebastian Giovinco is “very happy” at Toronto FC, but admits “I’d go back to Juventus”.

The forward left the Bianconeri last January in favour of a new challenge in MLS, scoring 22 goals and providing 13 assists in his 34 appearances.

“I’m very happy in Toronto, I’m happy with the choice I made,” Giovinco explained to SportItalia.

“I can’t wait to start again, we’ve been stopped for a few months and I want to get back to playing.

“Juventus? I miss it, but I made the choice and I’m delighted. I knew MLS was a growing League, and I wanted a change of lifestyle.

“Serie A? For now I don’t miss it, we’ll see in a couple of years, but at the moment I’m happy. I don’t know what will happen in the future, you can never say never in football.

“Football in MLS is growing, and in five or six years it will be an even more important League.

“Preferences in Europe? I’d go back to Juve.

“I’m happy with what I did at Juve, even if I could have done more. But it still wasn’t a failure.

With the European Championships in the summer, some have suggested that playing outside of Europe could see Giovinco miss out on an Italy call.

“The CT [Antonio Conte] has shown that distance isn’t a problem. I hope to go to the European Championships.”

Finally, the diminutive forward discussed transfer links, including suggestions Barcelona were interested in his services.

“I didn’t believe it myself!” Giovinco admitted.

“It was true though, even if there was nothing concrete. A small approach, shall we say.

Bologna? It was talked about, but there was never anything concrete. I was never close to Palermo. The year after Empoli it was talked about, but in the end it all came to nothing.”
