Sporting director Cristiano Giaretta warns Udinese have “no intention” of selling Silvan Widmer in January.

The 22-year-old has been tipped as the next Zebrette star to move for big money, but the director insists he’ll be going nowhere until the summer, despite interest from Inter, Juventus and Lazio.

“Widmer is a player who’s a prospect, he’s very young,” Giaretta noted, speaking to Calciomercato.

“He’s very interesting, and has matured by gaining experience in Serie A. It’s natural that many clubs have come to ask us about him.

“It’s never right to name names, but the big clubs in Serie A are very interested.

“Obviously this will be discussed from June, because Udinese have no intention of letting go of Widmer now.”

The Friuli side took Duvan Zapata on a two-year loan with no right of redemption this summer, but Giaretta believes that may be changed in the future

“We decided to take him on a straight loan for 24 months, because there weren’t many players around who could do the job.

“Usually we don’t do that kind of deal, but we can also meet with Napoli and talk about other things.

“In the future we might even sit down and talk about a redemption clause in our favour.”
