Giovanni Kean, the brother of Juventus forward Moise Kean, defended the 23-year-old by attacking those who criticised him for his instant red card.

The Italian striker played less than a minute of the Bianconeri’s 1-0 defeat to Roma on Sunday, being shown a straight red card almost immediately following a clash with Gianluca Mancini.

Kean was widely mocked and criticised for his behaviour, which left an already dejected Massimiliano Allegri even more frustrated at the Stadio Olimpico.

Writing on his Instagram story, Giovanni Kean defended his brother, accusing fans of Italian football of criticising players too much.

“At least one who understands something, unfortunately Italian football and this, they only know how to judge, and you wonder why there aren’t many Italian players, you slaughter them every game, you don’t know sh*t about football, and you open your mouth for no reason… wake up.”

Kean has struggled to show his best in Turin since returning in August 2021. Last season, he scored just five goals in 32 Serie A appearances, and this campaign he’s only netted five in 23, failing to live up to the potential showed when he broke through in Turin. He is contracted to the club until 2025.
