The Partenopei are top of the Serie A table and on a run of 10 consecutive victories, having dropped points on only four occasions.

“Napoli play better than Barcelona,” Giannini told the Corriere del Mezzogiorno newspaper.

“Their counter-attacks and possession play is even more efficient than that of the Spaniards. When Diego Maradona’s side won the Scudetto, they had the best player in the world and some extraordinary forwards, whereas this team’s strength is its teamwork.

“They start moves from the defence and are like an orchestra where everyone has their instrument to participate in the concerto.

“Napoli have what it takes to win the Scudetto. Juventus are accustomed to winning and are clinical, they without doubt have a superior squad, but the Azzurri are capable of anything.

“At the same time, this is the right game for Roma. They have to get back on their feet straight away if they want to continue the run towards a Champions League place, seeing as there are strong contenders like Lazio, Inter and Milan.”
