Marco Giampaolo wants to hold talks with President Massimo Ferrero before commiting his future to Sampdoria.

The Blucerchiati boss still has two years remaining on his contract at Marassi.

However, in recent months he has shown frustration at the club’s transfer policy of regularly selling their best performers.

And speaking ahead of Samp’s final match of the season at SPAL, Giampaolo admitted he needs to find common ground with Ferrero.

And speaking ahead of Samp’s final match of the season at SPAL, Giampaolo admitted he needs to find common ground with Ferrero.

“I will go to speak with the President Ferrero,” the 50-year-old commented.

“Nobody lives on income in football, you need to be competitive.

“We need to talk and come to a common agreement on our ambition and technical project.

“I need to have clarity.”

After spending much of the season in and around the European places, Samp look set to finish the campaign in ninth.

And despite some fine performances over the last nine months, Giampaolo is not happy with 2017-18 as a whole.

“The best matches have been against Milan, at Roma, at Bergamo, at Napoli.

“Am I happy with the season? No, because we were close to a target but did not achieve it.”
