Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has confirmed Josip Ilicic will travel to Naples but has not decided if the Slovenian will start.

La Dea prepare for a busy schedule with games coming thick and fast and before opening the Champions League group stage, they start with a trip to play Napoli in Serie A this Saturday.

“A very important streak of matches begins, those of the Champions League will be more decisive,” Gasperini said at a press conference.

“We will have the two most important immediately at home against Ajax and Liverpool, before then we will start in Denmark.

“It’s a very important phase. They are all very difficult games.”

Gasperini confirmed Ilicic will travel to Naples for tomorrow’s match and hopes to introduce Aleksej Miranchuk too.

“Ilicic comes to Naples, we’ll see if he starts or enters off the bench,” he said. “He’ll be part of the team.

“He didn’t have an injury that requires a recovery time. He did’t lose his ability to play. For us this is great news.

“These weeks have been crucial to recover players like Piccini and Pessina, we have recovered almost all the players.

“Gollini is on the right path. Some national teams arrived earlier, others later. They are all doing quite well, then we will evaluate in the last training session today.

“I also bring Miranchuk, he lost a month, but has recovered from the injury.”

Gasperini avoided the Juventus-Napoli case and quickly moved on to talk about the ‘strength and quality’ of the Partenopei.

“For their part, I don’t know, we want to play our game,” Gasperini said. “We want to continue our path.

“We travel to play against a strong team and must have great awareness. It’s a game that can give important signals.

“We only regrouped today, but it can be an advantage for the players to have played with their respective national teams.

“I fear their strength and quality, they are a candidate to win the championship.

“We have to evaluate each match on the basis of the characteristics of the opponent and on the basis of our abilities.

“Napoli are strong in attack, we refer to the games played against them, we know both their strengths and weaknesses."
