The Biancocelesti struggle with a long injury list as they return to action against Sampdoria at the Marassi tomorrow.

“We have some defections and some players who are not at their best,” Inzaghi said at a press conference.

“[Manuel] Lazzari, [Ciro] Immobile, Luiz Felipe, [Senad] Lulic and [Stefan] Radu will remain at home. [Felipe] Caicedo moved quite well today, the same goes for [Sergej] Milinkovic[-Savic] and [Mohamed] Fares.

“I will have to assess tomorrow.”

Inzaghi admitted the match against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League next week might affect his decisions against the Blucerchiati and said Marco Parolo could have to vacate in defence.

“It’s normal, even if in my head there’s only Sampdoria, who played an excellent match before the break in Florence.

“For the Champions League, we will think about it and see if some other players will recover. Marco has shown he can do it, he’s versatile and important for us.

“Tomorrow, he can certainly help us.”

The Aquile coach revealed he has tried Patric and Parolo out wide too.

“We have some problems at the full-backs. Marusic had his first training session today, after 12 days out, and Lazzari is out.

“Today I tried Patric and Parolo, I gave myself more options.”

Inzaghi said he’s happy with the work so far from new signings Vedat Muriqi and Wesley Hoedt.

“I have found great availability and application. I’m satisfied with the work of Muriqi and Hoedt this week.

“We also made choices based on the needs of the market. Hoedt knows the environment, he can do very well.”

Against Sampdoria, the coach believes Lazio need ‘a great match’ to return with all the spoils.

“They’re an organised team, they have a very good coach. We know him, he’s prepared and has a lot of experience.

“We will face a healthy team, we will have to play a great match.”

Former Lazio players Candreva and Keita play for the opposition tomorrow and Inzaghi said he wanted them to stay at Lazio.

“They have quality, and we will have to give them special attention. I’m attached to these two players, I would have liked to keep them, but they made different choices.

“I will see them and greet them with pleasure.”
