Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier has again commented on the possibility of signing Inter defender Milan Skriniar. ‘We thought that we had already got him last summer.’

The centre-back has turned down a new contract at San Siro and his agent confirmed to Telenord this evening that he has been in talks with PSG as well as other clubs outside of Italy.

Following PSG’s 7-0 victory in the Coupe de France, Galtier spoke to beIN Sports and was asked about the Skriniar situation.

“I cannot say if he will arrive this winter, or this summer. He is a player we have been tracking for a long time. In fact, we thought that we had already got him last summer.”

The Ligue 1 giants had several proposals rejected by Inter, reaching a reported €60m, because the Italians were confident Skriniar would sign a new contract instead.

Inter must sell in the January transfer window to avoid losing Skriniar on a free transfer when his contract expires on June 30.

However, so far they do not seem intent on discussing a sale, even after he was sent off in tonight’s 1-0 Serie A home defeat to Empoli.
