The bidding war continues between Torino and Olympique Marseille over Hellas Verona midfielder Ivan Ilic and neither side is backing down.

Toro had thought the deal was done, proposing €18m for both Ilic and Verona defender Isak Hien, although the latter would’ve remained at the Stadio Bentegodi on loan for the next six months.

Marseille then dived in with an improved offer just for Ilic and seemed to be on the verge of securing a transfer for €18m.

However, Sportitalia report that Torino have no intention of giving up on a player requested specifically by coach Ivan Juric.

They also still want Hien in that double deal and hope that it can be done for a total of €22m plus performance-related bonuses.

Serbia international Ilic seems to be leaning towards Torino, whereas Verona would favour Marseille because they are prepared to leave him on loan until the end of the season.

The Granata are expected to increase their offer for the 21-year-old, but need to do it tomorrow or risk losing out.
