Frosinone director Guido Angelozzi admits one between Enzo Barrenechea and Matias Soulé could return to Juventus in January: ‘We are open to discussing.’

Both players joined newly promoted side Frosinone last summer and have had an immediate impact at the Stadio Stirpe. Soulé has already scored two goals, while Barrenechea has made eight appearances, seven as a starter.

Tuttosport asked Angelozzi if one of them could return to Turin in January 2024.

“They are two fundamental players for us. That being said, we can discuss it,” said the Frosinone director.

“We are friends of Juventus and if there is a chance to be all happy, then we can discuss it. With these agreements, young players can develop and become important players for top clubs in the future. We are working with Juve, but also with Sassuolo, Milan and Inter. We work for our interest but also our counterparts so everyone can be satisfied with these deals.”

Speaking to reporters before a Lega Serie A meeting on Monday, Frosinone President Maurizio Stirpe added: “Juventus haven’t asked for Soulé yet. The director spoke about a possible return if there was a request. The player belongs to Juventus and what the club and the player think [about a return] will count.”

Juventus and Frosinone are on good terms. The Bianconeri signed Federico Gatti from the Ciociari two years ago, but the Italian defender was initially destined to join Torino.

“We were on the train, ready to meet Torino to close the deal,” Angelozzi told Tuttosport.

“[Federico] Cherubini called us during the trip and when we arrived at the station, we sold Gatti to Juventus rather than Torino.”

Both Soulé and Barrenechea joined Frosinone from Juventus on dry loan deals, meaning the newly promoted Serie A side do not have an option to buy them permanently at the end of the season.

Frosinone are perhaps the biggest surprise in Serie A this season, having earned 12 points in the opening eight games.
