Barcelona will hold an assembly to get authorisation on financial moves to boost the club’s finances and today’s meeting will also impact the transfer strategies of Juventus, Napoli and Milan.

The Catalans hope to solve part of their financial issues today and the club members’ decisions will also concern Serie A clubs.

“If these financial operations are approved by our members, it will be good news for us,” Barcelona President Joan Laporta said last week. “We will balance our books sooner than we expected.”

Several transfers are pending at the Nou Camp, including Franck Kessié and Andreas Christensen’s free moves to the club. The Ivorian midfielder will join the Catalans from Milan, while the Denmark defender has agreed to move to the Nou Camp from Chelsea, also on a free transfer.

Milan transfers: could Kessié’s Barcelona move collapse?

However, Barcelona are waiting for a cash injection and haven’t yet confirmed the two signings. If the season started today, they wouldn’t be allowed to play.

They are not the only reinforcements the Blaugrana will bring in this season. Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly is their priority target to strengthen their defence. Napoli are open to selling their star defender for €40m, given that KK is unlikely to extend his contract expiring in June 2023.

Football Italia sources understand that Angel Di Maria has made Barcelona his priority for next season, but the La Liga giants haven’t yet made an offer because of their financial issues.

The Argentinean star is available as a free agent after the end of his contract with PSG and Juventus have already made their move. El Fideo has put negotiations on hold, waiting for updates from the Nou Camp and today will be a key date for him and many other Serie A stars as Barcelona will know whether or not they’ll have the financial strength to sign them.
