Matija Popovic landed in Milan on Tuesday, but the latest reports in Italy claim the Rossoneri are considering abandoning talks to sign the 18-year-old striker after hearing requests from his entourage.

Popovic’s Milan transfer seemed a done deal barely 24 hours ago as the promising 18-year-old Serbian striker had arrived in Milan to sign his contract with the Serie A giants.

His deal with Partizan expired on December 31, 2023, and Popovic turned 18 on January 8, 2024, meaning he could put pen to paper on a professional contract with the Rossoneri.

However, according to Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo, Milan directors are now considering abandoning talks to sign Popovic as the Rossoneri are unwilling to accept requests made by the striker’s entourage.

Longo said Milan will give up on the striker if his agents don’t change their stance.

Manchester City had been linked with the 18-year-old striker, who rejected all offers to join the Rossoneri.

According to the report, Popovic wants to play for Milan but it is ‘not enough’ as the Serie A giants and his agents are far from reaching an agreement.
