“The three points were the most important thing and we knew it wouldn’t be simple, but we controlled the game and scored three goals,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.
It was made considerably easier by the fact Wilfried Singo was harshly sent off for a second yellow card after just 14 minutes, yet 10-man Torino still scored through Andrea Belotti and threatened more in the final stages.
“It’s true, we didn’t control the ball in the final minutes and allowed Torino the opportunity to close on our penalty area. I didn’t like that we conceded a goal down to 10 men, but for the whole game, I am satisfied.”
Roma are now level with Juventus in third place and only four points off leaders Milan.
“We are satisfied with our position in the table, but we are also a very, very long way off the end of the season. We must keep taking it one game at a time and start preparing for Atalanta on Sunday.”
