Fiorentina met with the entourage of Tottenham Hotspur outcast Giovani Lo Celso, as Villarreal need to sell before signing him.

The Argentina international has not played in pre-season under Antonio Conte and was not even on the bench for today’s opening Premier League game of the season against Southampton.

It’s safe to say he is not in the Spurs plans and has been told to find himself another club.

His preferred destination would be Villarreal, where he already spent six months on loan last term, making 15 Liga appearances.

However, they need to sell players to raise funds and make room before they can secure Lo Celso.

Fiorentina are therefore hoping to get there first, with TyC Sports claiming the player’s entourage met with the Viola over the last few days.

There is no agreement yet with the Serie A side, but they remain persistent for the 26-year-old.

The cost of the operation would be in the region of €16m, with Spurs prepared to accept a loan with obligation to buy format.
