Leicester City are preparing a new offer for Fiorentina‘s Nico Gonzalez, but Vincenzo Italiano is considering a tactical change that would make the Argentinean even more untouchable.

Fiorentina rejected an opening €34m bid from the Foxes last week, while the player is still in talks with the Premier League side and is unwilling to sign a contract with an option that would see his salary reduced if Leicester get relegated this season, sources told Football Italia.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Foxes are preparing a new offer, but Fiorentina are unwilling to sell in January.

As per Il Corriere dello Sport, the Tuscans’ boss Italiano is considering a tactical change involving the versatile winger which would make him even more untouchable.

Given Arthur Cabral’s injury and Luka Jovic’s struggles this term, Italiano could play Nico as a false nine in the second part of the campaign.

The 24-year-old played as a striker when he was introduced in the second half of a 2-0 loss against Roma on Sunday. Italiano admitted after the match that Nico has the skills to play as a centre forward.

Fiorentina don’t want to buy another striker in the winter transfer window and Nico would offer a valuable solution, making it even more difficult for the Foxes to finalise a deal in January.
