The Spaniard was swooped from Genoa last summer and has been one of the most stable and successful signings in Rudi Garcia's team, adapting himself to a number of roles.

“As a child I used to play as a trequartista,” he told Roma Radio. “I like it because I play a larger role in the movement of the team.

“The Coach told me four days before the game against Lazio that there was the possibility of playing in that role due to the suspension of [Miralem] Pjanic.

“We tried it out a bit and fortunately it went very well. We must do what the Coach requests to the best of our ability.”

Falque was then asked about Barcelona, whom Roma will be playing at the Camp Nou on the 24th of the November.

“It's the first time I play against my former team Barcelona in an official game, playing abroad.

“It's a source of pride for me to play against Barcelona in a Champions League game with Roma. I grew up there, and returning means that my efforts when I left home to play and pursue my dream have repaid me.

“I hope I can develop a special relationship with the fans. That's what I'd like. I find myself really at home here and I'd love to stay in the city for a few years. This is the right place for me.

“Our targets? We know our strength, we know we have some top players. Our aim is to keep going this way, playing as we did in the last month and reaching the end in the higher positions, with the possibility of winning something.”
