Sky Sport journalist Fabio Caressa rubbed salt into Juventus‘ wounds, saying that a late Arek Milik winner disallowed against Salernitana was the ‘worst error in the VAR era.’

The Bianconeri have plenty of regrets about a 2-2 draw against Davide Nicola’s side at the Allianz Stadium last night.

Not only had they thrown the first half away, going to the break down to two goals, but once they recovered, they saw a late Milik goal disallowed for offside of Leonardo Bonucci.

The Italian defender believes he was not involved in active play and suggested that VAR didn’t consider Antonio Candreva on the bottom left, who could have kept everyone onside.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Italy international was the last Salernitana defender and kept Bonucci onside, so the goal should have stood.

Caressa, one of the most famous Italian sports journalists, showed the footage during his post-match show ‘Sky Calcio Club.’

“The video is incredible because it shows Candreva keeping Bonucci onside by 50 centimetres,” he said last night, as quoted by TuttoNapoli.

“This is not official VAR, but [if confirmed] it would be the worst and most incredible mistake in the VAR era.”

  1. @romantic

Not an offside, because behind the keeper there were 3 Spezia players, 2 of whom were closer to the goalline than Acerbi.

    Not an offside.

  2. @Gigi

It was offside and was even vindicated by the Italia referees!! The referee and the VAR were both suspended for the feast of the season!! And it was clear offside!!

  3. @mike cabral

The refs were suspended because they didn’t use the VAR technology, not because it wasn’t offside or onside.

As for your statement, it wasn’t a clear offside. Even with graphic lines, it still unclear if Acerbi is closer to the goal, as it appears all 3 players are in line, keeping him onside (seemingly though).

Besides, what has that game from last season got to do with this one from yesterday?

  4. @Gigi

What are you on about?? Goggle it!! They were suspended because they missed the offside!! FACTS!! I could care less about the issue. I seen your response to the first comment and I’m telling you it was offside. There is nothing to debate!!

  5. Gigi,
The title of this post claims yesterday’s error was “the worst of the VAR era”.
I pointed out that Lazio‘s offside goal was at least on par, if not even worse, because refs had a crystal clear image without a “hidden Candreva”.

It was an EVIDENT OFFSIDE. Don’t even need lines to see it. Even Rosario sees it.😋

TWO PLAYERS need to be in front of scorer. Usually one of them is a GK, but Spezia‘s goalie rushed out.
