New footage has emerged suggesting the Juventus winner against Salernitana was incorrectly disallowed, but the Lega Serie A insist the VAR took Antonio Candreva’s position into account.

The controversial end to the 2-2 draw saw Arkadiusz Milik’s header go in from a corner and it was disallowed because Leonardo Bonucci was considered to be in an offside position and interfering with play.

Max Allegri raised doubts after the match, as did Bonucci, insisting Candreva was near the corner flag and therefore keeping everyone onside.

Sky Sport Italia released camera footage suggesting that at the moment of the Milik header, Candreva was 2.9m from the touchline and Bonucci was 3.42m from the same point, which would mean Bonucci was onside by a good 50cm.

However, the Lega Serie A told DAZN that the line drawn to decide Bonucci’s offside position did take Candreva into account.

VAR have a specific algorithm that takes camera angles into account to calculate a more accurate position on the field, whereas the Sky Sport Italia camera does not.

  1. Don’t play so poorly that you’re down 2-0 to a relegation threatened team then downer endings won’t be a problem.

  2. The line was drawn from the player beside Bonucci…. what on earth are you/Lega Serie A talking about?

  3. Was given as offside, correctly or incorrectly.

All teams get these controversial decisions for and against so deal with it.

  4. Another scandal with no consequences for the ones at fault. He’ll miss a game or two the most. But let’s leave ot to Max, as his team should have never been 2-0 down on home turf

  5. Who cares about the VAR controversy. Salernitana had the right approach in the 1st half and were actually the better team. Then they decided to play Allegri ball in the second half and do nothing. Why? Need to continue playing the entire 90 min’s idioti you could have beat them.

  6. The 7/9 are pathetic to be clinging onto an eleventh hour corner as their Hail Mary. At home and getting desperate with a few seconds left to play. Football is a simple game in theory. Give PhD Max the keys and he immediately wipes off 80 mins from the clock. Bring in Tuchel or someone from the 21st Century school of thought and you might get impetus with the minnows of Europe.

  7. Futile to discuss cause it won’t be changed anyway. Bonucci was clearly active in the play, but if candreva was closer to the line than Bonucci, then that’s a mistake.

Doesn’t matter. To quote Buffon – Maybe Muntari should have done better instead of complaining about a refereeing mistake…

  8. My thoughts on the VAR saga is this. The machine is hardly wrong as accuracy may be up to 95%. But when the ref goes to the monitor certain decisions are made over the comms device in his ear which we all are not privy to and that’s where the match fixing and all sorts of bad decisions come to play.

  9. Bla bla bla bla bla Hexagon bla bla bla bla bla bla PdD bla bla bla bla bla bla bla 7/9 bla bla bla bla bla Defensive football bla bla bla bla bla Kills talent bla bla bla bla bla bla left winger as left back bla bla bla bla bla bla bla 1mbps bla bla bla bla bla

  10. Some of the comments are beyond ridiculous. “Play better and you’ll win”, “don’t be trailing against inferior opposition” etc. If you scored 3 correct goals and conceded 2, you derserve to win 3-2. Doesn’t matter if you were 3-0 at half or were losing 0-2 the whole game and scored 3 in the 97th minute.

  11. TV does not show Candreva pisition as Milik heads the ball, which is the deciding factor.

The VAR has more views and they state as Milik heads the ball, Candreva is further grom goal line and Bonuvci is then offside.

    Correct decision it seems.

  12. The worst thing about this is that Allegri’s decisions will be overshadowed by VAR’s decisions.

    @ Partenopei
VAR did not even show us Candreva, so how did you come to that conclusion?? Feel free to add any more fantasies.

lol I don’t think he does.
