England fans have been booing Harry Maguire during an international, as some call for Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori to be brought in to replace the Manchester United man.

The incidents dominated the coverage of England’s 3-0 friendly win over the Ivory Coast at Wembley Stadium.

Maguire’s name was booed even when it was read out before kick-off and the jeers continued throughout the match.

England manager Gareth Southgate called the reception reserved for the Manchester United defender “an absolute joke.”

It still sparked debate online between England supporters who felt Milan defender Tomori deserved a chance to play far more than Maguire.

Incredibly, Manchester United paid €87m to purchase Maguire from Leicester City in 2019 and he has been desperately disappointing, especially during the current error-strewn season.

Tomori is five years younger and Milan spent €29m to bring him in from Chelsea after an initial loan period.

He has quickly become a mainstay of the Rossoneri defence that is topping the Serie A table, even scoring a Champions League goal against Liverpool.

Tomori did receive two caps for England at senior level in November 2019 for six minutes, then for 30 minutes in October 2021.

Considering England have qualified for the World Cup in Qatar, many find it inexplicable that the 24-year-old isn’t even getting a call-up for friendlies, not to mention an opportunity to shine.

  1. As a Milan fan, I am ok with Tomori missing these meaningless Friendlies.nHe stays fresh for us in the last 8 games. This should be ven more motivation for Tomori to play even better and hopefully help us win the Italian Championship.
If AC Milan win the Serie A, Tomori will likely be named the best Defender in Italy and as a result would be an Obvious inclusion to make the England WC team.

However, England Manager picked Abraham, so there is hope for Tomori

  2. All England players are overrated and their price tags are set only because they play in that league. All this hype about Sancho and I see not much. Same goes for Rashford lol. As for Maguire how is that donkey worth more then Van Dijk is beyond me. I will give them some credit as they are world’s best in corner kicks, crosses and missile launcher throw ins.

  3. @allegri he’s worth more than van dijk because of his incredible skill, the no look defense skill 🤣🤣🤣🤣
