Former Milan and Inter boss Leonardo believes this season’s Europa League could be “Francesco Totti’s”.

Totti opened his account for 2016-17 with a last-gasp winner against Sampdoria over the weekend, and Leonardo believes Roma’s probable priorities of Serie A and the Coppa Italia could mean that the veteran leads them to European glory.

“This could be Totti’s cup,” the Brazilian told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s a good thing because maybe, with so many commitments, he could have the chance to play more.

“The cup would become even more beautiful with Totti in it for longer.

“Totti’s already doing well in the League, he’s good for football. He has emotion. When he’s on the pitch, people go crazy.

“He must stay there. As long as he feels good, is happy and transmits it, so be it. Thank goodness that there’s Totti!”
